The Complete Idiot's Guide to a Smart Vocabulary
I'm not sure what this world would be like without editors, but I can tell you one thing: it would be a sloppier world. That's because most writers are just not capable of crossing absolutely every last "t" and dotting every single "i." Not only that, but we can be counted upon to toss commas around with a frightening haphazardness and to dangle participles with an unseemly abandon. We are, in short, very lucky that we have editors who come hard-wired with the requisite amount of fussbudget-ness to transform our slipshod prose into something ready for public consumption.
And I'm particularly lucky to have worked with the top-notch editors at alpha books, who did a remarkable job on this book. So I hereby extend the warmest and most heartfelt thanks to Acquisitions Editor Mike Sanders, Development Editor Michael Koch, Copy Editor Amy Lepore, and production Editor Christy Wagner. I also want to extend a special thank you to alpha books publisher Marie Butler-Knight for giving me the wonderful opportunity to write this book. I had a ball, Marie!
