Boboli Gardens: Wednesday, 2:00 PM

Buon giorno!

After a rough start (I somehow lost 150,000 lire—about $135—and in one jet-lagged jag, I slept for 14 hours in a 17-hour span), Florence and I are getting along just fine, thank you. I've seen so many Renaissance masterpieces—Leonardo, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael, Tintoretto—that I fear my eyes and mouth are permanently stuck in the "wide open" position. Florence is a truly beautiful city (the crowds and relentless souvenir vendors notwithstanding) and I'm having the time of my life.
